La Monte Westmoreland has been an active presence in the Los Angeles art scene for the past thirty years.

Born in Toronto in 1880, Henrietta Shore spent thirteen years studying art in her native city, in New York (under William Merritt Chase and Robert Henri), and in Europe before settling in Los Angeles in 1913, where she began to exhibit and attract attention.

Steve Turner Gallery was established in 1988 and specializes in American art and design from the 19th and 20th centuries. Areas of specialization include paintings, sculpture and works on paper from the 1930s and 1940s; posters from the late 19th and early 20th centuries; and California photography and ephemera from 1860 to 1960. Common to each of these specializations is the gallery''s commitment to broadening awareness for neglected subjects and artists
