Hippy-dippy backdrops (psychedelic squiggles, wide pans of the desert overhead shots of placid lakes and wildlife).  Castanieda waseither an accidental fraud or a brilliant manipulator whose psychedelic philosophy and musings benefited more then the late 60stiming of his presentation that from their substance. If his writings and spiritual theories really did inspire as many people in as positive a way as his followers claim, do his motives and methods really matter that much?
